Quantity good for 3-4 People

Ingredients:

  • Bread loaf – 1 (use little stale bread as it gives better results). Use uncut loaf as you can cut into equal size thick strips, ensuring to trim off the edges to give neater crust less strips
  • Eggs – 2
  • Fresh milk – 1 /3 cup (with fresh cream)
  • White sugar – 1/3 cup, ground into fine powder
  • Butter – 4 tbsp, unsalted
  • Cinnamon powder – 1 tbsp
  • Salt, a little generous pinch

Accompaniments:

  • Fresh forest berries
  • Maple syrup

Preparation:

  1. In a mixing bowl, crack 2 eggs whole, mix with milk & a pinch of salt. Whisk till well combined.
  2. In a separate deep dish / plate, mix sugar and cinnamon powder & set aside.
  3. In a pan, melt butter on low-medium flame.
  4. You need to be quick – roll & shake off excess bread sticks in the egg mixture (do not soak as it will make the bread soggy) and immediately place it on the hot pan.
  5. Cook on low-medium flame, flipping the bread sticks on all sides until they turn golden brown.
  6. Once done, transfer them from the pan to the plate quickly to coat them evenly with the sugar & cinnamon mix. The mixture sticks well when the sticks are hot.
  7. Repeat the same process for the sticks.
  8. Drizzle some maple syrup on the toast for added flavor.
  9. Serve hot with berries & maple syrup on the side.
    Enjoy!
